Mr. Hodge: Mr. Hodge, our Personalized Learning Coach, has been teaching us lessons on Digital Citizenship. We are learning about internet safety, and different types of websites (green/yellow/red).
Bear PBL: The students have been working so hard on their Bear PBL! We are in the final stages of creation, and we are so excited to share all of our hard work on Curriculum Night.
Here is a quick look at what we are learning next week:
Reading: We will continue working on our reading stamina. We are working on picking a good fit book (interest, comprehension, and understanding the words). Next week we will work on comprehension strategies.
Math:
ON: We started Unit 1: Extending Base Ten Understanding. In this unit, we will focus on place value within a three-digit number, recognizing that a hundred is created from ten groups of ten, using skip counting strategies to skip count by 5s, 10s, and 100s within 1000. We will also learn to represent numbers to 1,000 by using numbers, number names, and expanded form and compare two-digit numbers using >, =, <.
ADV: We started Unit 4: Applying Base 10 Understanding. In this unit, we are focusing on becoming fluent with addition and subtraction, understanding the relationship between addition and subtraction, and using place value to understand and work with numbers.
Language Arts: We have been working on reviewing previously learned blends. Next week we will learn about nouns.
Writing: We are continuing to work on our writing stamina. The students have identified what we can write about, and to underline words to look up in the dictionary.
Social Studies: We have started our first unit, which is Before There Was a Georgia. In this unit students will locate major topographical features of Georgia and will describe how these features define Georgia’s surface. The will locate all the geographic regions of Georgia: Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau. They will also locate the major rivers: Savannah, Chattahoochee, and the Flint.
